Learning the art of interviewing to prevent costly hiring mistakes

workshop.jpg

This time last year we shared a blog post about how to avoid hiring nightmares.  You can find the post here

Since then we’ve had many clients tell us that some of their hiring mistakes have been the result of them, or their hiring managers, lacking the skills to interview and screen effectively.  The bad news is that most of them are concentrating solely on the skills and experience of applicants and not on the behaviours, values and real motivations, and the transferable skills they possess.  In short, the aptitude and attitude to succeed in the role and company.  The good news is that effective interviewing skills can be learned.

We all know that our hiring managers should have decent interview and selection skills to avoid costly hiring mistakes.  Even if an agency has been engaged to supply you with a shortlist of pre-qualified candidates, the final decision will be made by internal personnel with a more in-depth understanding of the company.  Yet, even this doesn’t prevent poor hiring decisions.  This is because many hiring managers don’t understand the science and art of interviewing.

Training workshops
To help businesses improve these skills and make effective hiring decisions we have developed a comprehensive package of cost-effective training workshops and programmes.

If you need to hire the talent that will help you:

  • Build a team that continuously contributes to your success
  • Meet, or exceed, your business objectives
  • Stay with you and deliver a reasonable (or very long) length of service
  • Avoid the need for performance management, disciplinaries or dismissals

…then take a look at the training available.

Training options to suit all budgets and requirement:

1.  Join us on a Workshop – dates and locations to follow
You will learn how to recognise recruiter and interviewee bias; read behavioural styles better, and really get to the core of the person you’re thinking of hiring.

  • Half Day - Introduction to Better Interviewing - £45 per delegate
  • Full Day - Introduction & Advanced Skills - £75 per delegate
    (includes refreshments and workbooks)

2.  Book an In-House Workshop for your Team (up to 10 delegates)

  • Half Day - £450.00 * up to 10 delegates
  • Full Day - £750.00 * up to 10 delegates
    (includes workbooks and training materials)
    * plus mileage expenses for locations over 30 miles from WV2 4DB

Alternatively, you can outsource the interviewing.
Sarah Bishop, our Managing Director, will conduct first and/or second stage interviews with one of you hiring managers.  This provides an excellent opportunity for a practical 1-2-1 training and ‘wash-up’ session in addition to getting an objective and expert perspective on candidates.  This is a great option for businesses who don’t want to utilise a recruitment agency on a placement fee basis, but don’t have the in-house resource or expertise to interview effectively.

  • Half Day (up to 3 candidates)   £350.00 *
  • Full Day (up to 7 candidates)    £700.00 *
    * plus mileage for locations over 30 miles from WV2 4DB.
