In short, you bring me into your business, much like an HR Consultant, to work with you on a project basis. This solution is favoured by growing SMEs that don’t want to place all their recruitment into the hands of an agency and aren’t really ready to employ somebody to handle the recruitment process properly.
You’re billed on a daily rate, rather than upon placement, and this generally works out to be more cost-effective. The service can be used for a one-off vacancy or as a longer term project to help you review and refine your recruitment processes and make sure that your hiring managers are developed along the way. This will include things like interviewing alongside them and providing coaching and debriefing so that their interviewing skills are honed. This helps to avoid costly hiring mistakes being made as your business grows.
For high growth businesses that have volume recruitment requirements, it makes commercial sense to develop an internal recruitment function if projected growth and recruitment activity is going to be sustained over a number of years. Again, working alongside you, I (or a suitably experienced colleague), will design and implement workable recruitment strategies and practices to help place you as an employer of choice to attract the best people. At the same time, hiring managers will be coached and trained, while an Internal Recruiter (or Recruitment Team), is placed. This can be billed as a daily rate or as a one-off project price.
With over 23 years’ experience in recruitment, I have worked with start-up businesses that ended up as big brands (Holiday Hypermarket, for example) on rapid expansion of branch networks and call centres. I have also worked with an SME that increased their bottom line by £1.8 million in just 18 months with just two key placements - a talented Sales Manager and a frugal Production Manager.
From a personal perspective, I find it much more rewarding, and fun, to come along and work closely with a client to recruit the best talent to their team. I also work closely with a network of experienced HR Consultants, so we have the compliance and legal stuff covered too.
